|CD REVIEW Caliban|
Caliban was formed in Germany somewhere during 1997. Back then they called themselves name Never Again. After six months of jamming together, the band recorded their first demo, which never got released. The songs were sent to several record labels, and Lifeforce Records was the first to offer the band a record deal. The band's first self-titled EP came out during the summer of 1998, and many tours followed.
Now in 2012 the band is already good for its 8th album witch was released early February. To be honest I only know 2 or 3 songs from this band witch happen to be probably somewhere around 6 years old. When I compare those to the ones on their new record, much has changed. Although the foundation is still there, it seems they want to sound harder than they are. This metalcore band isn’t number 13 in a dozen, it has originality to it, but fails to keep my interest with this new record. All the songs (although well made and produced) sound the same (and to be honest, their older material sounded better).
