|CD REVIEW Great White|
Band : Great White
This band was formed in 1977, but so far they’ve only released 1 studio albums. ‘Elation’ is their 12th. The band has had it’s ups and downs over the years, and just like L.A. Guns there are two bands on the scene who share the same name, one being the original Great White, the band who releases this album, and a band that calls themselves Jack Russel’s Great White. But if you ask me there’s only one true Great White, and that’s this band.
On this album Great White has enlisted the aid of a new singer, since their previous singer Jani Lane (formerly the vocalist in Warrant) died of alcohol poisoning in August 2011. The new shouter is none other than Terry Ilous (XYZ).
To be honest, I had my doubts about this album at first, but I shouldn’t have worried, because this album rocks. It’s a heavenly mix between hard rock and blues, that bristles with energy. Some songs even reminded me of the Black Crowes. And Mr. Ilous has just the right voice for this kind of music.
For a band I’d almost written of, this is one mighty album. It’s sad that they only did one show in Euorpe this year. I really hope they plan some more European dates for next year, cause I’d like to see this band play live.
