|CD REVIEW Dorota Malek|
Band : Dorota Malek
I have ambiguous feelings about this album. On the one hand it tries to appeal to a metal/ gothic audience, but on the other hand it’s almost poppy, and very overproduced if you ask me. Miss Malek was born in Poland but moved to Australia in her early childhood. She made her first steps in the showbizz in 1999 at the tender age of 14. Her solo-career started off in 2007, and this Dayphobia album is her very first full release.
Like I said it’s an album that leaves an ambiguous feeling. It’s metal for sure, but with most sharp edges filed of. I’m pretty sure if this album would be given enough playing time on radio stations a hit might follow out of it, and not necessarily a hit on a rock chart. There’s no doubt about it that the woman can sing however, and musically it’s not too bad either, but I think this has lots to do with production etc.
Let’s say I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt, and will be awaiting her next release.
