|CD REVIEW Incubus|
Incubus is an American rock band that comes from California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas, when they still were enrolled in high school. Later on, the band expanded with bassist Alex Katunnich and Gavin Koppel who both are replaced by bassist Ben Kenny and DJ Kilmore.
The band has achieved lots of success. They reached several platinum record sales, as well as releasing several highly successful singles. But they didn’t earn mainstream recognition until the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself in 2001. The band recently delivered a seventh album called If Not Now, When?, which was released on July 12, 2011.
In that same summer of 2011, Incubus converted a vacant storefront space in Hollywood into a hi-tech, low-key residency. The result was six nights of free performances and fan encounters. Those six evenings were captured on video and is now packaged in a special offering entitled Incubus HQ Live. And the result is a live record/DVD. I'm not a big fan of these guys and I certainly don't know that many songs from them. But it has a cool vibe to it, something best explained as a record you have to listen to when you are chilling with a beer.
