|CD REVIEW Gojira|
Gojira is a French metal band from Bayonne and was formed in 1996. The band was known as Godzilla until 2001 when it name changed. Gojira is composed of Joe Duplantier on vocals/guitar, his brother Mario Duplantier on the drums, Christian Andreu on lead guitar and Jean-Michel Labadie on the bass. Since their first studio album, Gojira has had no changes in lineup, written five studio albums and produced two live DVDs.
Their latex creation called L'enfant Sauvage has just hit the stores at the end of last month. And once again these French progressive groove metalheads raise the bar in a league they created and where they rule. The first thing that’s noticeable is that it was written for a wider audience. Previous albums contained long progressive songs which isn't everyone’s thing. But they kept that fact in mind for their album only last around 53 minutes. Although they changed it up here and there, these guys remain true to their roots and their style, witch i only can applaud to.
Conclusion: Kick ass album from a kick ass band.
