Wigelius is a new Swedish band, named after their frontman Anders Wigelius.  This frontmen was discovered by producer Daniel Flores (Issa,  The Murder Of My Sweet, ;;;) when he sang Journey’s "Don’t Stop Believin" in a talent chase contest ‘True Talent’.

That the man can sing is undeniable.  The band, who further consists of Anders’ brother Erik on drums, and Jake Svensson and Chris Petterson respectively on guitar and bass.  This quartet wrote and composed 12 AOR songs, that are featured on this debut album. To call them a new AOR sensation, like their label Frontiers does, is however a bridge too far.  They are good,  but not that good.  There is no song that really stayed  in my mind, not even after a few times listening to this disc.  Besides that I also found the ballads rather cheesy.

So my final verdict: it’s not a bad album, but they have to dig deeper into their potential for the next album.

80/100
