I must say I casually put on this CD, having not looked attentively at the cover, only having looked at the band’s name.  Which means I thought I had gotten the right box, but with the wrong CD in it.  Since the first song was a cover of the Yes song ‘Owner Of a Lonely Heart’ I had now suspicions.  However when the second song started, Boney M’s ‘Ma Baker’ I didn’t know what happened.

Which made me grab the box, and start reading the titles of the songs. That’s when I realized what the connection between the title of the album and the songs was.  All of these songs were songs from the 70’s and 80’s, and most, if not all, were hits back then.

I cannot describe the feeling when you hear a pure disco song like ‘Staying Alive’ pressed through a meat grinder and reshaped in a more or less hard rock version.  It’s tantalizing, yet it’s also great fun.  And the guys from Axxis really have done all they could to make these covers resemble the original songs, yet they sound different also.

While after the first time I played the CD I thought I would write that it was not worth to spend your money on this album, after a few spins I totally changed my mind.  If like me you grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, and know all these songs in their original version, it’s as a matter of fact nice to hear them performed in another way.

You’ve got to give credit to these guys to have the balls to dare to release this album.
