Dr Cyclops come from Italy and this is their debut album. Dr Cyclops has been influenced by many bands within both the 70s heavy psych and the doom side of the genre border, naming Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Blue Cheer, Black Widow and Bolder Damn as some of them. Plenty of these examples can be found when the music varies between the bouncier stoner riffs, and over to heavy low riding doom. The band has the art of finding powerful and catchy choruses, their songwriting remains dynamic and isn't afraid to experiment with different instruments (flute, piano, horns,…)and surprises are numerous over the course of the record.

Despite the fact that you can really hear what are the band influences, this album never sound like a bland copy. “Giants of mountain” is a 10 minute long masterpiece of the best melodic adventurous doom one can find along these European shores with Alia O’ Brien from Blood Ceremony as a guest on flutes.
Dr Cyclops proves to be one of the more promising bands to come out of Italy recently, and this debut is an excellent album within the subgenre.
