Rage has been in the business for 28 years now.  Yet I only discovered their real potential by listening time and again to their ‘Ghosts’ album.  Why they didn’t appeal to me before I cannot say.

As a matter of fact, this album is their 21st album, and, it is a good one as well.  Firmly rooted in heavy metal, they also do not eschew bringing progressive and classical elements in their songs, as well as occasionally some trash elements.

I have to admit that I was immediately sold while listening to this album.  The lyrics may not be that fantastic, but they’re ear pleasing, and instantly make you want to sing along.  The guitars are scorching, you just have to listen to them in the third song ‘Forever Dead’ and you’ll know what I mean.  Peavy’s voice sounds as powerful as ever, and Victor Smolski once again shows us that he’s a brilliant guitarist.  How these guys manage to create such a sound with only the three of them is a mystery to me.  If you’ve been around in the eighties you’ll remember that in those times there were some other bands who more or less managed to do this, and then I mean bands like Jaguar, but they of course played another type of metal music.  This is lots an lots more sophisticated.

It may not be the best album they’ve ever released, but I guess every metal fan will find something to its gusto on this album.
